DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s basketball team upset No. 13 Arizona Western College 59-56 Wednesday.
“We really executed our game plan to take away their inside game,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We were up by 10 in the second half, but they kept chipping away at it and hit their threes.”
Destiny Amezquita led Cochise with 22 points, Te Oramae Solomon had 16 and Tianna Brown scored eight. The Apaches are now 7-3 overall and 4-2 in ACCAC play.
Cochise plays next at home at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against Glendale Community College. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
