mbkb vs westernDOUGLAS — The Cochise College men’s basketball team fell to Arizona Western 85-68 on Wednesday night.

The Apaches went into halftime down just 36-31, but the Matadors opened the second half with a 15-2 run and the Apaches couldn’t close the gap.

“We just couldn’t score,” Cochise head coach Jerry Carrillo told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We competed; we’ve just got to get better. We’re struggling right now and that’s something we haven’t experienced at Cochise College.”

Demitrius Balark led Cochise with 20 points and LaBradford Sebree scored 10. The Apaches are now 4-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play heading into Saturday’s home game against Glendale Community College.

Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
