IMG_8543DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s basketball team defeated Phoenix College 78-65 on Saturday.

Destiny Amezquita led the Apaches with 28 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Te Oramae Solomon scored 14, along with six rebounds, and Tianna Brown had 13 points and six rebounds. Jessica Almeida added seven assists.

“We did a really good job in the second half pushing the ball in transition,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “We don’t have a lot of depth, and we keep battling every possession.”

Cochise is now 11-6 overall and improved to 6-4 in conference play heading into Wednesday’s game at Scottsdale and Saturday’s game at South Mountain.

Cochise returns to the Douglas Campus on Jan. 22 against Mesa for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
