DOUGLAS — Cochise College will be hosting an open house to showcase the renovated Stronghold Gymnasium and athletic facilities at the Douglas Campus on Friday, Oct. 25.
The free event will be held in the afternoon and coincides with the inaugural Alumni Weekend. Campus tours, open to the community as well as alumni, will start from the Administration Building at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 and weave through campus before concluding at the gym, where Athletic Director and Cochise College alum Bo Hall will showcase improvements to the gym’s main lobby, weight room and locker rooms, as well as the baseball field.
Attendees will also get to see each of Cochise College’s “traditional” sports in action that day. The baseball team will scrimmage at noon, men’s basketball will have practice at 1 p.m. and the women’s soccer team will practice at 2 p.m. before the women’s basketball scrimmage against Arizona Christian at 3:30 p.m.
Cochise College’s first Alumni Weekend is Oct. 24-26, beginning with the Friends of the Library Membership Drive and seventh annual Pit Fire Festival, followed by Friday’s athletics event and Pottery Pit Party, and concluding Saturday with women’s soccer and men’s basketball scrimmages, the Alumni Family Barbecue and the Pit Fire Pottery Exhibit.
