IMG_0859MESA — The Cochise College baseball lost two tight games at Mesa Community College on Saturday, dropping game one 4-3 in eight innings and falling in game two 6-4 in seven innings.

In the first game, Cochise took an early lead with a run in the top of the first on an RBI single by Jake Luna. Mesa tied it with a run in the fourth and took the lead with two more in the fifth before Cochise tied it up with two runs in the seventh. Mesa scored in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

David Estrada took the loss for Cochise. At the plate, Darick Hall and Jason Sanez were each 2 for 4.

In the second game, Kade Wagner took the loss for the Apaches, allowing six runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over 5 2/3 innings. Luna was the only Cochise player with multiple hits, going 2 for 3 at the plate.

The losses drop Cochise to 21-17 overall. Next, the Apaches host Pima Community College on the Douglas Campus in a noon doubleheader Tuesday. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
