Two Cochise College baseball players were recognized last week by the NJCAA for outstanding academic achievement this year.
Louis Boyd was one of only 185 student-athletes in the NJCAA who earned the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence for achieving a 4.00 GPA.
Darick Hall earned Exemplary Academic Achievement, awarded to student-athletes with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.
“Student-athletes like Lou and Darick are what coaches aspire to have,” said Cochise College head coach Todd Inglehart. “Great athletes on the field and responsible mature individuals off the field. Those two make my job easier. Lou and Darick have proved that when their baseball career is over they will be successful in anything they do.”
Boyd also earned recognition for his work on the field by being named Second Team All-Region. The shortstop is set to attend the University of Arizona in the fall.
Hall was named a Third Team All-American for his efforts on the mound and at the plate for the Apaches. He also earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region honors. He signed a letter of intent with Dallas Baptist University to play this fall.
