The Cochise College baseball team, this year’s NJCAA Region I champion, heads to Sterling, Colo., this week for the Western District Championship tournament, and Apache fans in Cochise County will be able to catch the games live on local radio and via online streaming.
The four-team playoff includes Region I champion Cochise, the top two teams from Region 9, Northeastern Junior College and Lamar, Colo., and Region 18 champion Western Nevada College. Western Nevada and Lamar open play at noon MST (11 a.m. Arizona time) Thursday, followed by Cochise vs. Northeastern at 3 p.m. MST (2 p.m. Arizona time).
Listeners in the Douglas area can tune into KDAP 96.5 FM for every Cochise game to hear the play-by-play produced by Arnold Broadcast in Sterling. Live video and audio streams can also be found online at www.ihigh.com/gonjc.
The tournament continues Friday and Saturday. The winner of the district tournament moves on to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
