SIERRA VISTA — Visit Cochise College for music, dance, poetry and food during Celtic Culture Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 6 in the Sierra Vista Campus Student Union.

The annual event opens with a pair of lectures, “Getting Started with Genealogy” presented by Jean Walker and “The Search for John Joseph Foley” presented by Desi Harris. The event continues with The Monasterians, performing Celtic music with bodhran, followed by singer and guitarist Bill Cassidy with Irish folk music. An open poetry reading begins at 11:30 a.m.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a $7 lunch buffet of corned beef and cabbage will be available in the Student Union. In the afternoon, Billy Power, who is from Ireland, will entertain the crowd with traditional Irish ballads and pub songs. Lora Teskey will offer an Irish dance performance and workshop before the event wraps up with door prize drawings.

All performances, lectures, demonstrations and workshops are free and open to the public. The event is sponsored by the Sierra Vista Campus Cultural Diversity Committee and Student Government Association of Sierra Vista.
