IMG_0877PHOENIX — The Cochise College baseball team was shut out on Saturday against South Mountain Community College, falling in game one 8-0 and in game two 2-0.

The Apaches scattered five hits in the early game against Clay Miller, who struck out five and walked three. Steve Naemark took the loss for Cochise, allowing seven runs, walking one and striking out three in five innings.

Xavier Altamiranotook the loss in game two, while Louis Boyd had a solid day for Cochise at the plate, going 3 for 4 with singles in the fourth and sixth innings and a double in the eighth.

Cochise takes an 11-10 overall record and 7-7 in ACCAC games heading into a break from conference play. The Apaches play six games at several different sites over four days this week in the annual Phoenix Area Juco Spring Classic, beginning Wednesday against Pro Training of Canada.
