IMG_0736DOUGLAS — The Cochise College baseball team played at home for the first time in three weeks on Tuesday and swept Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the afternoon doubleheader.

The Apaches made the most of just five hits in the first game in a 6-4 win, then eked out game two 7-6.

In the early game, Steve Naemark earned the win, allowing three runs on two walks and 11 hits while striking out three over 6 1/3 innings. Darick Hall that scored Nelson, and Cochise held on for the win.

David Estrada got the win in relief for Cochise, going 1 2/3 innings and allowing no runs. Nelson went a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with singles in the first, third and fourth innings and a double in the seventh.

The wins improve Cochise to 21-15 overall this season. Next, the Apaches travel to Mesa Community College for a noon doubleheader on Saturday before returning home to the Douglas Campus on Tuesday to face Pima. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
