DOUGLAS — The Cochise College baseball team routed Glendale in a two-game sweep on Saturday. The Apaches shut out the Gauchos in the opener, 9-0, then won the second game 10-1, led by a perfect day at the plate by Esteban Bastidas.

In the early game, Frank Salas earned the win, going six innings while giving up five hits, walking one and striking out three. Bastidas went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Nate Hale went 3 for 4 with a walk and a run scored. Salas and Zach Rodgers each went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

In the late game, Glendale jumped on top early with a run in the first, but that’s all Cochise starter Jacob Potts would let cross in 6 2/3 innings of work. Potts allowed four hits, four walks and struck out eight. Bastidas again led the offense, going 3 for 3 with a walk, three RBIs and three runs scored. Gerardo Arzaga went 3 for 5, all doubles, with two RBIs, and Stephan Desgagne went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and a run scored.

The wins bring the Apaches’ record to 14-4 overall heading into a stretch of road games, the first this Tuesday at Scottsdale. The doubleheader begins at noon.
