Apaches move to 4-0 on the young season.
The Cochise College men’s basketball team overcame a cold perimeter shooting night by using a strong defensive showing in the second half to pull away with a 115-56 win over the visiting Eagles of Northern New Mexico last night in a rare 6 p.m. contest in the Stronghold Gymnasium.
Cochise led 53-33 at halftime but needed a solid last five minutes of the first half to gain that lead. Cochise again used a balanced scoring attack with four Apaches scoring in double figures. Cochise was paced by last years’ ACCAC Player of the Year, Stephen “Tank” Byard, who led the attack with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Cochise is now 4-0 on the season.
“Cochise welcomed the students, faculty and staff from Loretto K-8 school last night in the Stronghold,” said Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. “Loretto had a very strong showing in the Stronghold Gymnasium and met the team after the game.”
