the public to participate in two special events that reflect on the college’s history.
Exhibition: “Through Headlines and the Lens: History by the Hands of the Students”
The college is excited to showcase an exhibition that pays tribute to six decades of student storytelling. Titled “Through Headlines and the Lens: History by the Hands of the Students,” the exhibition is on view at the Douglas Campus Union Gallery.
“This exhibition showcases a rich collection of newspapers and photographs from the Cochise College Archives, offering a glimpse into our storied past,” said Ash Dahlke, art instructor at Cochise College. Visitors can explore the front pages of The Heliograph, the college’s first student newspaper, alongside photographs and digital copies of other student publications, all meticulously preserved and now digitized.
The exhibition is open to the public, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Douglas Campus Union Gallery.
Founders Day Celebration
Cochise College will also host a Founders Day celebration on Thursday, September 19, to commemorate the first day of classes held 60 years ago. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sierra Vista Campus, followed by additional festivities at the Douglas Campus starting at 3 p.m., including a reception for the exhibition at 4 p.m.
Founders Day is a time to reflect on the college’s history and learn about what future projects are coming up. It’s a chance for the college and the communities it serves to connect and share memories.
Both events are free and open to the public.
