GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — With 50 wins under their belt this season, the Cochise College baseball team gets a rematch against Neosho County Community College today in game 14 of the JUCO World Series.

Neosho lost to No. 1-ranked Spartanburg Methodist College 7-4 on Tuesday night to drop into the losers bracket. On Sunday night, the Panthers beat Cochise 2-1 in the opening-round of of the tournament, but the Apaches stayed alive with a 3-1 win over Connors State on Wednesday.

Now, both Cochise and Neosho square off in an elimination game.

Freshman Steven Naemark, who pitched the complete-game win against the Cowboys on Tuesday, said Sunday night’s loss stung, and Cochise is looking forward to a different result Wednesday.

“We need to remember the things we did right (Sunday night),” he said. “Hang on to the good at-bats, the situations we capitalized on.”

Today’s game begins at 3 p.m. MST (2 p.m. AZ time). The winner moves on to game 16 against the loser of the Central Alabama-Spartanburg Methodist game tonight.
