The Cochise College men’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the season against Pima Community College last week, but bounced back to defeat Scottsdale over the weekend.
The Apaches fell 94-91 to Pima on Wednesday, despite 26 points by Jordan Martin, 23 by Brayon Blake, 12 from Daniel Hernandez, and 10 apiece from Emanual Shepherd and Jawan Stepney. Blake added 15 rebounds for the Apaches and Arell Hennings had nine assists.
Cochise beat Scottsdale on Saturday 115-107, with Martin scoring a game-high 34 points. Shepherd added 23 points and 14 rebounds, Hernandez scored 22 and Stepney had 10 points.
Cochise is 11-1 overall and 6-1 in conference games heading into Christmas break. The Apaches will play in the Phoenix Holiday College Classic, facing Vancouver Island University on Dec. 29, Snow College on Dec. 30 and Future Prep on Dec. 31. Cochise returns to conference play on Jan. 7 at South Mountain Community College.
