The Cochise College Rodeo team headed to Nationals on June 11, at the 72nd annual College National Finals Rodeo to represent the Grand Canyon Region. 

Over 400 contestants from 100 colleges and universities traveled to Wyoming after qualifying by competing at rodeos in 11 different geographic regions. 

The Cochise College Men’s Rodeo Team, representing the Grand Canyon Region, is Dawson Davis, Garrett Hershberger, Landon Munoz, Zane Munoz, and Sherrick Sanborn. 

The Women’s Team, also representing the Grand Canyon Region, is Catherine Clayton, Maddee Doerr, Jill Donnelly, and Chenoa VandeStouwe.

Each contestant had three chances in their events to earn a spot among the top 12 that advanced to the Championship Finals on Saturday, June 17, where national champions were crowned.

Cochise’s Jill Donnelly tied for the Women’s All-Around with 180 points and crowned the National Champion for Goat Tying with an average of 26.5 seconds. Maddee Doerr took third in the nation for Goat Tying with an average of 27.5 seconds. Catherine Clayton received a Breakaway Roping Scholarship and placed third in the country. 

Overall the Cochise College women’s team ranked third in the nation in the CNFR’s standings finishing with 403.33 points, behind Montana State University in first and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in second. The complete results are available at www.collegerodeo.com/cnfr.
