DOUGLAS – The Cochise College rodeo team finished up the fall portion of its schedule at the end of October with a fifth-place finish by the men’s team and a third-place finish by the women’s team at New Mexico State University.
Cochise was led by Efren Benavides, who took first in the bull riding event, and Kassidy Dennison, first in barrel racing.
After four rodeos, the Apaches break from competition until the spring, when Cochise is set to host its second home rodeo of the year at Fort Huachuca on March 3-4, a Saturday and Sunday, which differs from past years.
Heading into the break, the Cochise men are sitting fifth within the Grand Canyon Region standings, while the Cochise women are fourth, just behind Mesalands Community College.
After the annual rodeo on Fort Huachuca, held at Wren Arena, Cochise heads to rodeos at Central Arizona and Northland Pioneer before finishing the season at a second rodeo held at NMSU in April.
