DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s soccer team won its third straight game Saturday, 4-0 over Gateway Community College.
All four goals were scored in the first half, starting with a direct kick by Tori McNary in the seventh minute, followed by Brynn Bowden crossing to Jennifer Calanche to score a minute later. In the 13th minute, Calanche crossed to Bowden for another goal, and just before halftime, Kim Cormier scored unassisted off a blocked shot.
The Apaches take a 10-4 record, tied for second in the ACCAC standings, into away games this week at Paradise Valley on Tuesday and Phoenix on Saturday, but they’ll be without their leading scorer, Talya De Leon, and Calanche for those two games because red cards were issued to the players late in Saturday’s game.
Cochise returns home Oct. 17 for a 2 p.m. matchup with Scottsdale Community College at Bujalski Track and Field Complex, next to Barnes Field House, on Fort Huachuca. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
