The Cochise College Women’s Soccer team traveled to Las Vegas to open their season play against the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes. Cochise presented themselves with a team performance that earned them a 1-0 win.

The Apaches were eager to get three points from the season opener.  

The first half was a struggle for both sides to break through the defensive lines to find the back of the net. The scoreboard showed 0-0 at halftime. 

Cochise College had a couple of chances early in the second half, which led to the first goal for Apaches. In the 48th minute, Maria Azarias (Santa Catarina, Brazil) smartly chipped the goalkeeper to open the score. As the game wound down, both teams had numerous attacking opportunities. In the end, Victoria Maxwell (Sierra Vista, AZ) secured her shutout with a 1v1 save in the game’s final moments.

The win puts Cochise Soccer’s record to 1-0.
