The Cochise College men’s basketball team jumped out to a 71-47 first-half lead and cruised to a 124-80 victory over a talented Phoenix Prep team, the PHH Fire.

Cochise was led again by returning ACCAC Player of the Year and All American Stephen “Tank” Byard, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds, garnering another double-double. Sophomore Jalun Trent had a substantial all-around floor game with 13 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds on the night. Freshman Tyreese Watson also poured in 17 points in the victory.

The Apaches are now 6-0 on the young season.

“Our guys showed some great team effort tonight as we played well versus some quality athletes and players,” said Cochise Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. “Now we move onto the ACCAC games where everyone will be geared up to play us due to us winning the conference three years in a row.”
