BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — For the first time in Cochise Women’s Soccer’s history, a trip was made to the brand-new Mohave Community College in Bullhead City, Arizona, for an ACCAC Conference showdown. The Big Horns of MCC were fresh off of hosting the very first match of their inaugural season by welcoming Cochise in front of a large crowd on Tuesday morning.
The Apaches wasted no time raining on MCC’s parade as freshman Katherine Lobaton scored in the second minute of the match off of an assist from conference Player of the Week Jocelyn Navarro. Navarro followed with another goal of her own, putting the Apaches up 2-0 early. Freshman Mya Bowler kicked one in off of an assist from Sabrina Amezcua and Alicia Garwood extending Cochise’s lead. Freshman forward Michelle Gomez scored two goals making it a 5-0 lead over MCC in the second half. Standout sophomore Sabrina Amezcua put in another two of her own to maintain her status in the top-5 in the country in goals scored. Bowler sealed the deal for Cochise in the late minutes, scoring two more goals, as the Apaches ran away with a 9-0 win over Mohave.
Cochise outshot MCC 10-0 allowing the Apaches to utilize three keepers in the box during the match with sophomore Alicia Garwood and freshmen Allyson Gonzalez and Julia Vigorito.

The #17 Cochise Women’s Soccer team (4-1-1; 2-0) will continue their road swing next week as they head to another new conference foe, Community Christian College (Redlands, CA) on Tuesday, September 17th at 1:00 PM, and familiar rival Arizona Western (4-0) on Saturday, September 21st in Yuma at 6:00 PM.
