HOBBS, N.M. — The Cochise College men’s basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season to rout the University of the Southwest 122-70 on Saturday.
Anddrew Hawkins led the way for Cochise with 22 points on 9 of 12 shooting, Tevin Caldwell had 18 points on 8 of 12 and Demeco Blue had 18 on 7 off 11.
The Apaches finished 2-1 in the T-Bird Classic, falling to New Mexico Junior College on Friday, 73-58.
“We’ve got to get better in a lot of aspects,” Cochise head coach Jerry Carrillo said. “Against a quality team like NMJC, we didn’t execute our offense in the half-court like we needed to. We need a better consistent effort defensively, but I think we’ve got a chance to be a real good team.”
The Apaches next head to Tucson for a tournament game against nationally-ranked Odessa College on Friday at Pima Community College.
