IMG_9360DOUGLAS — The Cochise College women’s basketball team fell to Central Arizona College on Wednesday night, 81-68.

Destiny Amezquita led the Apaches with 18 points, followed by Jessica Almeida with 16.

“I thought we did a really good job and then it just kind of fell apart in the second half. We gave up too many offensive rebounds,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “Central just has too much depth and firepower for us at the moment.”

The loss to the No. 5 Vaqueras sends Cochise’s record to 16-10 overall and 11-8 heading into the final three games of the regular season. On Saturday, the Apaches travel to Pima and on Tuesday head to Phoenix College.

Cochise returns home to the Douglas Campus for the regular-season finale against Scottsdale at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 21. Admission is free.
