Cochise College second baseman Tagg Duce was named Player of the Week among players on Division I teams in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, announced Thursday.
The sophomore went 9 of 18 at the plate in Cochise’s sweeps of Arizona Western and Pima last week, including a double, triple, two home runs and seven total RBIs. He’s the third Apache to receive conference honors this season.
In the latest National Junior College Athletic Association poll, released Wednesday, the Apaches climbed back into the rankings at No. 10, the first time Cochise has been ranked in the poll since it was tied for third at the end of February.
The Apaches are 42-12 overall and 28-8 in ACCAC play heading into their regular-season finale at noon Saturday against Central Arizona. Despite the outcome of Saturday’s doubleheader, Cochise will host a Region I semifinal series next week.
Admission is free to Saturday’s game on the Douglas Campus.
