Cochise’s Nnamdi Ezenwa will continue his basketball career at Idaho State University. The Bengals announced the signing Tuesday.

Ezenwa averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game this past season, helping the Apaches to a 25-6 overall record and the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference title. As a freshman, Ezenwa averaged seven points per game on a Cochise team that won the NJCAA Region I title.

“Nnamdi had a very good two-year career here at Cochise College and played a huge role in us winning two championships in two seasons,” Cochise head coach Jerry Carrillo said. “He was very versatile and really did a lot of the ‘dirty work’ for us.”

A native of El Paso, Texas, Ezenwa was the El Paso Player of the Year in his senior season at Bowie High School. He graduated from Cochise with an associate of science degree last week.

Ezenwa is the third Apache this season to sign with a Division I school. Nathan Sobey is headed to the University of Wyoming and Matt Korcheck is set to redshirt next season with the University of Arizona.
