The Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning‘s Lunch Lecture and Brown Bag series is presented each semester at the college’s campuses and centers. Weekly free lectures and presentations offer attendees the opportunity to hear fascinating stories and learn about a wide array of topics in a no-pressure environment.
This semester, lectures are presented on Mondays at the Benson Center, Tuesdays at the Douglas Government Center, located at 1012 N. G Ave., and Wednesdays at the Sierra Vista Campus in room 702. All lectures are from 12:10 to 1 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch.
• “Secrets of the San Pedro River” – Monday, March 25, Benson Center
Ralph Waldt, local naturalist, will take you on an ecological and natural history journey of the last free flowing river in the entire desert southwest, the San Pedro River. The middle San Pedro River area will be the main focus of this program.
• “Amazing Aviation History of Douglas” – Tuesday, March 26, Douglas Government Center
Les Stimac, who grew up in Douglas, has always been an aviation nut. Until he retired and returned to the area, he did not have a clue about the amazing aviation events that had occurred in Douglas. Stimac will disclose what he discovered while working at the Visitor’s Center and at the Border Air Museum.
• “Machu Picchu and the Hidden Civilization” aka “Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and Exploring Lake Titicaca’s Unique Civilization” – Wednesday, March 27, Sierra Vista Campus
If you hike the Inca Trail four and one-half days to Machu Picchu, you can experience the incredible Totora Reed Floating Island Civilization on Lake Titicaca. Fred Stahl has conquered this hike and will intrigue you by recounting his experiences.
