
Cochise College women’s rodeo team
The Cochise College women’s rodeo team is leading the Grand Canyon Region right now with the Cochise College men’s rodeo team close behind in second place for their league. The women’s team was able to secure their spot at nationals during the last rodeo in New Mexico against Mesalands College Rodeo.
Regionally, the Cochise College rodeo team has placed in ten categories. In women’s all-around, Georgia Diez was able to take the first position, Janey Reeves was second and Hayley Dalton Estes took third.
Lynn Smith, the assistant rodeo coach stated that the men’s team is in a tight position to keep second place, their fate will be decided at the final regional rodeo competition. However, Rio Lee was able to secure the regional Bareback Riding Title and Jason Joaquin is locked in for the regional Saddle Bronk Riding Title; both will take part in the upcoming CNFR. The Cochise College rodeo team will compete in the final Grand Canyon Regional Rodeo in Las Cruces New Mexico this weekend. Nationals will be held in Casper Wyoming this upcoming June.
