Copies of the Cochise College literary and arts magazine, Mirage, are now available. The magazine is designed and produced by students of Cochise College with help from faculty advisors and volunteers from the community. A public reception featuring readings of the published work is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Bisbee Community Y, 26 Howell St. in Old Bisbee.

Students who work on Mirage are enrolled in the Cochise College class Literary Magazine Production. Submissions are collected from residents of Cochise and Santa Cruz counties and selected via an anonymous process; each submission is judged without disclosure of the writer’s or artist’s name. The 2010 edition includes poems, short stories, photographs, and other art. The magazine also contains short biographies of the writers and artists selected for publication. Authors will read from work published in the magazine, and featured artists have been invited to bring and display their work.

Food and beverages will be catered. There is no charge for the reception.
Copies of The Mirage are available free of charge at the Douglas and Sierra Vista Campus libraries and bookstores, as well as at local city libraries, the Bisbee Coffee Company, and Atalanta’s Bookstore. Copies also will be available at the reception. The public is welcome to attend. Anyone needing an accommodation in order to attend should contact the Disability Services Office, (520) 515-5337 or (520) 417-4023, at least 72 hours in advance.
