Dr. James Perey, executive vice president for academics, announced that five of its esteemed staff members have recently earned their doctoral degrees, marking a significant achievement in their academic and professional careers. Cochise College invites you to a Meet & Greet event to honor these scholars and celebrate their accomplishments while learning about the meaningful ways their work shapes education in the region and at the college.
The event will take place on Thursday, October 3, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Sierra Vista Campus. Attendees will be able to hear from each scholar as they present insights from their doctoral research and its practical applications.
The honorees include:

Dr. Angela Garcia, Dean of Liberal Arts
Dr. Beth Hill, Dean of Nursing & Allied Health
Dr. Mary King-Power, English Instructor
Dr. Cat Matthesen, Reading Instructor
The scholars will present on the following areas:
- Enhancing instructional practices
- Community health and enhancing patient care
- Strengthening student success
These accomplished individuals are not only advancing their fields but also making a lasting impact on our community. Their achievements highlight the college’s commitment to academic excellence and its dedication to providing innovative educational pathways.
