Cochise College reminds students of new policies regarding deadlines to register for classes and receive refunds for dropped courses.
Students must be signed up for a class the day prior to the course start date. That is, if a class begins on a Monday, students need to register by Sunday; if a course begins on a Tuesday, students must be signed up by Monday. Late registration is no longer available.
To receive a full refund for a dropped course, it must be dropped prior to the start of the term. Students who drop a class within the first week of the term will be refunded 90 percent of their tuition, which can be applied to a new course added to their schedule — as long as the new class hasn’t met yet. No refund is available after the 90-percent refund window closes.
“Research shows that people who get into classes when they first start have more success than the people we let in late,” said Dr. Bo Hall, Dean of Student Services. “We want students to get into their classes on time so they have a chance to be successful.”
For the regular 16-week semester, courses will be refunded in full if dropped before Jan. 12, or at 90 percent if dropped between Jan. 12-20, or no refund after Jan. 20. For 8-week, 10-week and 21-week terms, visit www.cochise.edu/tuition for the complete refund schedule.
Full payment is due at the time of registration, or students may sign up online for a payment plan at www.MyCollegePaymentPlan.com/Cochise; otherwise, their registration will be deleted.
These deadlines and policies apply to all course terms in the spring. The spring 16-week semester begins Jan. 12. For more information about the new refund schedule, visit www.cochise.edu/tuition.
Students who plan to apply for financial aid to help pay tuition should also consider freeze date deadlines when planning their spring schedules. A student receiving financial aid must be registered in all classes for the semester by the listed freeze date, which is Jan. 21 for Spring 2015. Find more important deadlines on the Academic Calendar or contact the Financial Aid Department for more information.
