Cochise College will offer nine camps for kids at the Sierra Vista Campus this summer and is branching into new topics sure to engage students in the fun of learning.

Registration for the camps begins Monday, April 12 in the Faculty Services Office located in Building 400. Registration takes place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and each camp will meet from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. over the summer.

Camps include some repeats from years past as well as some new offerings:

  • Ceramics Camp: June 7-10. Kids entering grades 7 through 9 will make clay flutes, tiles, water candles and masks.
  • Art Sampler: June 7-10. Students entering grades 4 through 6 focus on drawing, painting and hand-made projects, learning a variety of methods.
  • Science Camp: June 14-17. Kids entering grades 6 through 8 conduct microbiology, biotechnology, and chemistry labs, and dissect biological specimens.
  • Write Now! June 28 – July 1. Students entering grades 7 through 9 express themselves through the written word and even publish their own work!
  • Technology Camp I: July 12-15. Kids entering grades 6 through 8 get a hands-on introduction to game design, web design and video and image editing.
  • Technology Camp II: July 12-15. Kids entering grades 7 through 9 who previously participated in Tech Trek I camp get a more advanced look at the ins and outs of game design, web design and video and image editing.
  • Lego Camp I: July 12-15. Kids entering grades 4 and 5 learn the basic science and technology of robots.
  • Lego Camp II: July 19-22. Advanced robotics technology for kids entering grades 6 through 8.
  • Android RoboRivals Camp: July 26-29. Students entering grades 7 through 9 adapt a team robot to tasks like robot soccer, M&M sorting, and capture-the-flag. Open to students who have completed Robo I and Robo II or have experience with Lego Mindstorm robots.
