The Cochise College rodeo team kicked off the season at the Cochise County fair on Sept. 25 and 26. Colleges and universities that are members of the Grand Canyon Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association competed. The women’s rodeo team won the annual rodeo, and the men finished fifth as a team.

Catherine Clayton led the team by winning both rounds and the average of the breakaway roping. She also placed fourth in the average of the goat tying and won the all-around for the weekend.

Maddee Doerr won the long round of the goat tying and won the average. She tied for first in the short go as well.

Anna Jorgensen placed fifth in long go of breakaway roping and sixth in both rounds and average of the barrel racing.

Garrett Hershberger placed fourth in the long round of tie-down roping and made a nice short round run to finish third in the average on two head.
