The Cochise College Soccer team hosted the Pima Aztecs for their last home game of the regular season on Saturday, May 1. Cochise showed a team performance that secured them a 2-0 win.

The Apaches faced an uphill battle for most of the first half, going into a strong headwind. They managed to hold a majority of possession but struggled to find the back of the net. In the 40th minute, Cochise broke the tie when Sanne Croes, a sophomore from Ambt Delden, Netherlands, scored a 45-yard free-kick and surprised the Aztecs’ goalkeeper. The first half ended 1-0.

Cochise College had a series of chances early in the second half. Amparano made several good saves to keep the Apaches at bay. Her efforts were able to hold them back until the 58th minute when Kayla Reynaud set up Freshman Defender Daniela Gomez from Cali, Columbia, with a cross from the left-wing after a failed clearance from the Aztecs. Brianna Guzman made six saves to earn a shutout.

The win improves Apaches’ record to 4-3.
