Cochise College is pleased to announce the names of three individuals who will be inducted into its Hall of Fame on Nov. 16.

The Hall of Fame honors former students, faculty/staff and community leaders who have exceeded the expectations of their role and positively advanced the college’s legacy, or left a legacy that made a significant impact on students or the institution.

To be inducted at a ceremony on the Douglas Campus are Mark Dannels (‘85), Cochise County sheriff; Michael J. Ortega (‘81), former manager of Cochise County and the cities of Douglas and Tucson; and David Velasco, whose contributions as an audio/visual technician advanced classroom technology during the college’s early decades.

Launched as the college celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014-2015, the Hall of Fame celebrates an array of contributions by people representing different facets of the college community. There are 43 members whose contributions range from professional success and volunteerism to financial support.

Inductees were nominated through an application form and letters of recommendation that explained their connections and contributions to the college through personal time, effort and interest. Nominations for the Class of 2025 are already being accepted online at https://www.cochise.edu/alumni/hall-of-fame/

Registrations are now being accepted for an induction brunch that will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Douglas Campus. The cost to attend is $25, and the event is open to the public.
