DOUGLAS — Returning members of the Cochise College women’s basketball team are staying in shape this offseason with spring workouts on the Douglas Campus.
The Cochise women finished the 2012-13 season 26-6 overall and 16-4 in conference play, the best for the program in recent memory.

In postseason play, the Apaches hosted their first NJCAA Region I tournament game in at least 20 years as the second seed, defeating No. 3 seed Arizona Western before falling to top-seeded and nationally-ranked Central Arizona.
“The returners have already started working hard this spring,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes said. “We are looking forward to bringing Cochise women’s basketball to an even greater level of success. We have a great group of returners and so far the recruits we are looking at will take us to that next level.”
Hughes was named Co-Coach of the Year for the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, and freshman Tianna Brown, set to return next year, earned a spot on the All-ACCAC Third Team.
