Douglas, AZ— Cochise College women’s basketball team had its 6-game winning streak snapped on Saturday night, losing 61-53 to Pima CC.
Guard Taylor Harris gave probably her best game of the season, totaling 14 points. Jordyn Penniman had 12 points, while hitting 2/3 3-point field goals. Coulter Bowlen followed with 10 points and 8 rebounds, and forward Sophia Elenga had 10 boards off the glass.
Cochise won the rebounding battle 42-38, but shot just 32% from the field, while Pima hit on 38% of its attempts. However, the Apaches surrendered too many turnovers, fouls and offensive rebounds to the Aztecs. Cochise could not come up with any key defensive stops.
The defeat leaves Cochise with a 19-6 overall record, and moves them to a 13-4 clip in conference play. Up next is a contest versus Scottsdale Community College on Wednesday, February 10th, 5:30pm.
