The Cochise College Psychology Club will be hosting a Brain Week celebration on March 6 and 8 at the Sierra Vista Campus. Both days, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union, the club will have puzzles, board games, brain food and other free brain-related activities available.

“The Psychology Club isn’t just for psychology majors. It’s for everyone,” said club member and social event coordinator Monica Old Elk. “We just have a passion for psychology and the involvement it can have in a person’s life.”

Brain Awareness Week is officially held March 12-18 this year, as coordinated by the Dana Foundation, but since that week coincides with Cochise College’s spring break, the Psychology Club decided to hold their own Brain Week festivities a week early.

“This will be our big event for the year,” Old Elk said. “We’ll have food that contributes to our everyday brain function — like carrots and caffeine. We’ll have music — from Classical to The Beatles. We’ll have a little bit of everything. We just want to educate people and make it fun.”

The Psychology Club meets on the third Friday of every month. For more information about joining the club, click here, or contact club adviser and psychology instructor Tierra Stimson at stimsont@cochise.edu or 515-3631.
