SIGNAL PEAK — The Cochise College women’s basketball team fell to nationally-ranked Central Arizona College on Saturday 78-65.
The Apaches kept the game close until the last few minutes of the game, when the No. 10 Vaqueras stretched their lead.
“The keys of the game for us were how we took care of the ball, and we couldn’t let them have too many offensive rebounds,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “They had 23 offensive rebounds. We just didn’t box out when it came down to it.”
Cochise was led by Destiny Amezquita with 21 points. Te Oramae Solomon added 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Princess Lauvao and Tianna Brown each scored eight.
The Apaches take a 10-5 overall record into Wednesday night’s home game against Pima Community College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
