DOUGLAS — The Cochise College men’s basketball team defeated Central Arizona College 99-95 in an overtime thriller during Saturday’s semifinals of the NJCAA Region I Tournament.
The win sends the Apaches to the region championship game tonight at Mesa Community College.
“We were down 7 at halftime, but we held tight and were able to make plays and made free throws when they counted,” Cochise head coach Jerry Carrillo told the Sierra Vista Herald. “Guys stepped up and made big shots.”
Daniel Hernandez finished with 25 points, Emanual Shepherd added 16, Arell Hennings and Jordan Martin had 13 apiece, and Brayon Blake finished with 10.
Tonight’s game in Mesa begins at 7:30 p.m.
