IMG_8914DOUGLAS — The Cochise College baseball team swept South Mountain Community College on Saturday, winning game one 8-0 and the second 5-2.

Darick Hall pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out two in seven innings. At the plate, Hall went 3 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs. Adam De La Cruz and Bryan Nunez each went 2 for 3 with a run scored. The Apaches combined for 13 hits in the game.

Nick Borowski went the first 6 2/3 innings on the mound to earn the win in game two, allowing two runs on two walks and six hits while striking out four. Juan Aguilera came on in relief for 1 1/3 and De La Cruz pitched the final inning for the save.

The Apaches jumped on top with two runs in the second and four more in the fourth before the Cougars scored two in the fifth. Sean DeSoto was 4 for 5 at the plate, including two doubles and two RBIs. Charlie Ameer was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Cochise is 17-5 overall and 9-1 in conference games heading into Saturday’s game against Mesa. The doubleheader begins at noon on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
