The Cochise College men’s basketball team traveled to Glendale on Tuesday for their last regular season game and left with a 24 point victory, in a 94-71 contest.
Cochise came out hot, jumping on the Gauchos earlier and getting the lead out to as many as 19 points in the first-half.
At halftime, Cochise led by 12 and had controlled most of the game to that point.
In the second half, Glendale made a run, cutting the lead
down to five, but the Apaches, with great overall play, went on an 18-6 run, to go up 17 points with seven minutes remaining.
They kept a minimum 15 point lead for the remainder of the game.
The Apaches were led by Jawan Stepney, who finished the game with 17 points making 7 of his 12 field goal attempts. Dallas Polk-Hilliard ended up with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Cochise will host Mesa in the first round of the Region I Tournament this Saturday with the game tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
