
Douglas, AZ — With the regular season wrapped up, Cochise College women’s basketball team will celebrate its playoff berth and a pair of accolades for two of its players. Forward Sophia Elenga earned First-Team ACCAC and First-Team Region 1-Division 1. Fellow frontcourt partner Coulter Bowlen earned Third-Team ACCAC and Second-Team all-Region 1-Division 1.
Elenga earned her honors by averaging 11.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per-game. She scored a season-best 26 points versus Parkland on New Years Eve and also collected 14 rebounds in a game twice this season. Bowlen averaged 8.7 points, and 5.8 rebounds a game for Cochise, and scored a season-high 16 points versus Parkland on December 31st. She pulled down a high of 15 rebounds against Southwestern on November 7th.
Cochise will begin its playoff-run on the road as a 3-seed, versus 2-seed Eastern, AZ, on Tuesday, March 1st at 7 p.m. The two teams split their match-ups during the regular season, with each squad winning on its home court. The winner of Tuesday’s playoff game will advance to play top-seeded Central AZ on March 4th.
