DOUGLAS – The Cochise College baseball team swept El Paso Community College in a four-game series over the weekend.
The Apaches played their home opener Friday afternoon in a two-game set that saw two game-winning RBIs from Kellen Marruffo to help Cochise win 7-5 and 8-7, despite nine errors on the day.
In the first game Saturday afternoon, Cochise rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh and final inning to win 5-4. Frank Salas drove in the game-winner with a one-out, bases-loaded single to left. Cochise closed the afternoon with a 9-7 victory behind Salas’ 4 1/3 innings in relief.
