DOUGLAS — The Cochise College men’s basketball team opened the season with a win over Westwind Prep International 124-94 on Friday night for Head Coach Jerry Carrillo’s 400th win at Cochise.
The Apaches led 57-45 at halftime and extended their lead from there. Tim Jacobs led Cochise with 20 points, Oliver Guerrero had 19 and Bryan Laws finished with 17. Demitrius Balark added 13 points, Ronald Singleton scored 12 and LaBradford Sebree had 10. Antonio Penny finished with 11 assists.
Cochise is 1-0 heading into its road trip to Texas, where the Apaches first face Midland College on Nov. 7 before the Odessa Tournament on Nov. 8-9. The squad returns home to the Douglas Campus to open conference play against South Mountain Community College at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13.
