In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Cochise College will host a special jazz concert featuring the renowned Larry Redhouse Jazz Ensemble. Larry Redhouse, a celebrated jazz pianist, composer, and band leader, hails from the Navajo Nation and will perform alongside his family on Thursday, Nov. 7, at both the Douglas and Sierra Vista campuses.
Joining Larry Redhouse on stage will be Tony Redhouse on percussion, Mary Redhouse on bass, Lenny Redhouse on drums, and Duane Reilly on tenor saxophone and flute. The Redhouse family, often referred to as Arizona’s Native American first family of jazz, has captivated audiences nationally and internationally with their unique blend of jazz and Native American influences.
The concert is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy a performance that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Navajo Nation through jazz, a genre often seen as a bridge between diverse musical traditions.
Performance Schedule:
Douglas Campus: 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Student Union
Sierra Vista Campus: 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Student Union
