IMG_8963YUMA — The Cochise College baseball team swept Arizona Western College on Saturday, winning game one 1-0 and game two 6-2.

Darick Hall pitched the complete-game shutout in the first game, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out eight in eight innings.

The Apaches scored in the top of the eighth after Nick Borowski bunted and reached first on a fielder’s choice, advanced to third on an attempted pick-off play, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sean DeSoto.

In game two, the Apaches jumped on top early with all six runs in the second inning. Nate Stepna was 3 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored, and DeSoto went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Borowski pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six.

Cochise is 12-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play heading into Tuesday’s game at Central Arizona. The Apaches are back at home Thursday for a noon doubleheader against Vancouver Island and Saturday for a noon doubleheader against South Mountain.

Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
