Former Cochise standout pitcher Steve Naemark, now playing at Angelo State University, is this week’s Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.

On Saturday against Regis, he set a school record with 15 strikeouts in a 2-1 win, throwing 77 of 109 pitches for strikes and holding the Rangers to just three hits. According to the Angelo State website, Naemark (2-0) has a 1.12 ERA and 38 strikeouts through 24 innings pitched so far this season.

The lefty Naemark transferred to NCAA Division II Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas, at the end of last year after two standout seasons with Cochise, during which he helped lead the Apaches to back-to-back Western District titles and NJCAA World Series appearances.
