IMG_8878COOLIDGE — The Cochise College baseball team picked up a sweep against Central Arizona on Tuesday, winning the first game 2-1 and the second 10-5.

Kade Wagner pitched six strong innings to carry the Apaches in game one. He allowed just one run on four hits and six walks while striking out three before Darick Hall came on for the save in the seventh.

Cochise scored in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly by Louis Boyd that scored Charlie Ameer. Central answered with a run in the bottom of the third, and the game was tied until the sixth when Hall scored on a wild pitch.

Game two stayed close until Cochise scored four runs in the sixth and four more in the eighth. Tyler Fallwell went the first 3 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two. Juan Aguilera came on in relief and went 4 1/3 to get the win, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks, along with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Bryan Nunez finished with four RBIs on two doubles, Dan Hetzel had two hits, including a triple, and Ameer had two hits and two runs scored.

Cochise is 14-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play this season. Next, the Apaches face non-conference Vancouver Island at home on Thursday, followed by a noon doubleheader against South Mountain on Saturday. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
