Xavier Blount
Cochise College men’s basketball sensation Xavier Johnson Blount has received another honor to add to last month’s all-conference and all-region announcements.
Blount, a sophomore guard from Virginia Beach, Va., was named to the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) All-American Second Team. He averaged 23 points per game this season and placed among the top 3-point scorers, sinking 41.5 percent of 224 attempts. Last month, he was named to the All-ACCAC (Arizona Community College Athletic Conference) and All-Region first teams.
The NJCAA first, second and third teams each consist of 10 players, making Blount among the top 20 players in the nation.
“Xavier has had an outstanding career here at Cochise College. This honor is well deserved, and we look forward to seeing what he does next,” said Apaches Head Coach Jerry Carrillo.
