Cochise College held its law enforcement recognition. Eighteen cadets from the Southeast Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (SEALETA) graduated Thursday, May 25, at the Cochise College Douglas Campus.

Dr. J.D. Rottweiler, college president, extended his warm congratulatory remarks to all the recruits and expressed his gratitude to the training officers, faculty and staff. Chief Adam Thrasher led the recognition ceremony gave remarks and served as the master of ceremonies. Honorable Judge Tim Dickerson administered the Oath of a Peace Officer, symbolizing the cadets’ commitment to upholding justice and protecting the community.

With their class motto “Ready to serve, Prepared to protect!” as a theme throughout their training, the graduating cadets were filled with excitement and pride. Two officers were recognized for special class awards among the program graduates. Sean Maddux received the physical fitness award and the academic award for achieving 97.8% overall. Raymundo Felix received the firearms award. Kelsey Guyette received the unofficial driving award.

“The  SEALETA graduation ceremony not only commemorated the accomplishments of these eighteen officers but also symbolized the sacrifices and unwavering commitment demanded by the role of a law enforcement officer,” said Dr. Eric Brooks, executive director of the college’s First Responders Academy. “As they begin their careers, the officers now carry with them the responsibility to maintain peace and ensure the safety in their communities.”
